The 3 Levels of Usui Reiki and how to use them daily

Let's discuss the 3 different levels of Usui Reiki

Firstly, there are various types of Reiki lineages, so not all are the same. Think of this like yoga. There are so many different types of yoga, they are all very different but similar and connected at the same time.

Secondly, you do not need to start a Reiki business or even share it with others if you are a Reiki practitioner. I have certified many people who only want to give Reiki to themselves, their pets, and plants and will never start a business. Again, think of getting your yoga teacher’s training, not to teach yoga but to deepen your practice and understanding.

According to Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Usui lineage of Reiki, there are three different levels.

Reiki Level 1 – SHODEN (“the Entrance”)
This is when you learn about the history of Reiki, what it is, and how to use it in your daily life. Everyone already has Reiki within them and all the energetic channels necessary to become a practitioner.

At this level, your energy channels become awakened and activated so you can use the gift that is already within you. This level is meant for self-care and sharing it IRL with those who are you.

Think of it as being given a flashlight and knowing how to turn it on and off. You have the energy healing tool without always so you can activate Reiki at any time for whatever reason. This is the perfect tool for anyone who is an empath, highly sensitive, has health issues, lives a high-stress life, struggles with anxiety... or is human.

Personal opinion - everyone needs to learn how to work with energy as you are an energetic being in an energetic world. So if your life is perfect, do it to make it better and if your life is a hot mess, do it to make it smoother.

Reiki Level 2 – OKUDEN (“Deep Inside”)
With this level, you learn the three symbols of Usui Reiki (different lineages of Reiki have different symbols). This is when your plain flashlight gets an upgrade and you learn special functions like the strobe light, different colors, and so on.

Initially, you will feel the Reiki be activated in your body in Level 1, but with this level you will FEEL the frequency of the different symbols when you use them. This is why I would never combine Level 1 and 2 since you miss the beautiful step. This is the level where you can send Reiki virtually AND to the past or future.

Remember Reiki is energy and energy holds no bounds to space and time. So you can send Reiki to the past to your inner child fancy, to the future for something special or challenging about to happen, and to anyone anywhere in the world.

The "strength" of Reiki does not decrease with distance. That's a mental block people have, nothing to do with the Reiki. Consider a prayer or intention... does this work "less well" depending on the distance between the giver and receiver? No, of course not. This is the level if you choose to start your Reiki business, you can not accept money in exchange for the healing.

Reiki Level 3 (Reiki Master) – SHINPIDEN (“The Mystery / Secret Teaching”)
At this level, you can access more symbols AND attune others to become Reiki practitioners. This is when you can host your own certifications and pass on the wisdom of Reiki to the new round of Reiki students.

Again, you don't need to ever certify anyone or share Reiki with anyone. This level supercharges your energetic abilities, and healing and depends on your relationship to both yourself and the Universe.
