I first discovered yoga in university as I heard it can help with stress management and relaxation. It wasn’t until after I graduated that I fully committed myself to the practice. Consistency is always the secret to finding the magic of any activity or habit. Once I realized the power of this movement practice, I was hooked.

This was my ultimate self-care ritual that kept my nervous system at a functioning level, especially when life got challenging. I will be honest, at times I would drift from my practice only to find myself spinning and overwhelmed. This was always my friendly nudge from the universe to come back to my practice.

When I became a nurse and moved to Toronto, I lost sight of my priorities and became very disconnected from my body and its needs. At times, I replaced my yoga practice with partying to run and numb my emotions. I would always come back, but the times I wasn’t regularly on my mat made my living in my body a lot more challenging. Being a Neurosurgical + Trauma Nurse was incredibly taxing on my physical and emotional body. I witnessed human suffering and despair on a daily basis that shook me to my core. I also experienced severe sexual trauma that made me feel completely disconnected from my body. Releasing the energy that was trapped within my tissues and feeling the big emotions to face my past seemed completely unbearable.

 
 

It wasn’t until after I called of my wedding, at one of my lowest points in my life, when I made a commitment to myself. Yoga is essential. It softens me when I am tense, energizes me when I am down and safely brings me back to my body.

Yoga is an opportunity to tune-in to what your body craves and nourish it with movement. It is medicine for the soul and how I feel grounded when going through turbulent times. This inspired me to share the power of movement with others. In 2018, I received my 300-hour teacher training at Ahimsa Yoga and became Yoga Alliance certified. I continue to fall madly in love with the practice and am passionate about expanding my knowledge while showing others the magic of yoga.

As a yoga teacher, I aspire to create a space of kindness where you can slow down and anchor into the softness of your breath while sparking your inner fire and evoking a sense of play.

  • I teach a variety of styles from faster paced vinyasa flows, to get your heart pumping, and gentler yin and restorative flows, to strike a balance between the yin and the yang energy within you.

  • My classes allow you to explore breath and movement, encourage introspection and promote self-love while arriving fully into the present moment.

  • I love to create flows balanced with slow fluid movements and faster transitioning asanas that challenge and empower the body.

  • I encourage gratitude for your body, encourage a sense of playfulness and a moment to appreciate how you feel in that moment.
